Karlskrona city is first out with Smart Parking of the future

The city of Karlskrona is first out to adapt a comprehensive solution for parking and parking control. The driver of a registered vehicle won’t be needing any parking ticket to place inside the car anymore when parking in Karlskrona, instead he will use the app in his smartphone. The payment is registered and linked to the vehicle registration number so the parking controller can scan all license plates in a parking lot to verify the payments.

 Smart Parking includes the entire system from the mobile app in the motorists smartphone to the integrated tools used by the parking controllers to scan the vehicle license plates. Customers can easily pay the parking fee using the mobile app or the city’s official website, we also provide traditional solutions such as parking meters.

”The city of Karlskrona has recently extended the number of  parkings subject to a charge from 650 to 3600 parking lots. For that reason we are overjoyed to be able to present a state of the art solution that makes parking easier for the motorists and more cost effective to administrate and control.” says Anders Jaryd who is the official delegate in the municipal office of Karlskrona city.

Smart Parking is unique in Sweden. For the first time we have a solution where communication, positioning and payments are integrated in one system. For example the system uses the smartphones built in positioning service (GPS) to determine which zone the car is parked in in order to decdide the correct rate for the parking fee.

This new solution is developed in cooperation between Smart Parking Sweden, Fujitsu and HiQ.

The registration process is easy and you can start parking at once you’ve downloaded and installed the mobile app, just add tour vehicle registration number. Next time parking is only three clicks away with your smartphone. The user can see time and cost in the mobile app in real time.” says Richard Lidén, site manager at Fujitsu Karlskrona.
